ProudRoots is building WA's first Indigenous owned and operated Community Centre(s).

A place for WA's Nyoongar/Aboriginal, Maori and Pacific Islander peoples.

Here's why it matters:

A place owned
by us, for us.

A place for our causes;

A place for our groups;

A place for our people;

A place for culture and learning;

A place for anything we want!

The ProudRoots Vision is Indigenous people uniting together to preserve our cultures, establish our financial and social independence and solve the issues facing our people, ourselves!

To achieve our Vision ProudRoots is building Indigenous Nyoongar/Aboriginal, Maori and Pacific Islander Community Centres in WA that will be used in ways to address the big issues facing our people, such as:

  • Youth Suicide
  • Homelessness and Poverty
  • Heart Disease
  • Alcohol and Drug Abuse
  • Unemployment
  • Stigma
  • Lack of Confidence and Self-esteem
  • And more

Our own Indigenous owned and operated community centres will also be places to preserve our cultures, practices and beliefs; and provide education and opportunity for our Nations people here in WA.

Our own community centre removes barriers and takes the first step towards creating the world we want.

Will there be more than one centre?

(MUST READ)

It's more than just 4 walls and a roof... it's self-determination.

Self-determination

(noun)

: free choice of one’s own acts or states without external compulsion.

Indigenous self-determination is the ability for usNyoongar/AboriginalMaori and Pacific Islander peoples – to take control of, and make decisions about our destiny as first peoples, nations and cultures.

This ability was taken from us. But here’s a way to take it back.

ProudRoots is building community centre’s that are owned and operated by the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific: Nyoongar/Aboriginal, Maori and Pacific Islander peoples.

These are places for our culture, our events, our practices – anything WE want!

But there’s more…

These community centres will be hubs for business and other financial projects. The types of businesses and projects that create sources of jobs and funding for OUR community and people. And WE choose how it’s spent.

It’s a radically new approach, but this is how we achieve Indigenous self-determination.
